West Bengal BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari has once again issued threats regarding the letter from the Bangladesh government requesting the return of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Not only that, he made derogatory remarks aimed at Bangladeshi citizens and Nobel laureate Chief Advisor Dr. Yunus.
On Tuesday, December 24, outside the West Bengal Legislative Assembly, the Leader of the Opposition and BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari, responding to questions on this matter, said, “I believe the Indian government has thrown that letter into the dustbin. Those juvenile advisors in Bangladesh have no knowledge of India’s history. This is the same India that provided refuge to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his entire family. India gave shelter to the Dalai Lama. India did not fear the might of a powerful country like China. So, Bangladesh is just a minor country! Forget Rafale jets; they’d flee just hearing its sound.”
Suvendu further stated, “Those who garlanded freedom fighters with shoes will face the same fate as Golam Azam. Watch what happens to these descendants of collaborators! They have not learned from the past or the present. Those who deny the spirit and emotions of Bangladesh’s Liberation War will find a noose awaiting them, just like Golam Azam.”
Earlier in the day, in the Legislative Assembly, the Speaker of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly and a legislator from the ruling party, Biman Banerjee, remarked that the matter of an extradition treaty with Bangladesh is under the purview of India’s central government. According to him, the decision regarding Sheikh Hasina’s extradition would be made by the central government.
