Robi Axiata has appointed an acting CEO following Rajeev Sethi’s new assignment within the Axiata Group, according to a letter sent to the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission.

M. Riyaaz Rasheed, the company’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), has been named the acting CEO by the board of directors, effective February 1, 2025.

Sethi, who took over as CEO in October 2022, succeeded Rasheed, who had stepped in as acting CEO in August 2021 after Mahtab Uddin Ahmed resigned.

Before joining Robi, Sethi led Ooredoo Myanmar as CEO and had also served as the CEO of Grameenphone.

As of November 2023, Robi had 57.1 million mobile subscribers in a market of 187.8 million, according to data from the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission. Robi ranks second in the market, following Grameenphone, which has 84.5 million subscribers.
