Actor Saif Ali Khan, who was hospitalized last week after sustaining stab wounds during a burglary attempt at his home, was discharged from Lilavati Hospital on Tuesday afternoon. Accompanied by his wife, actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif returned to their residence in Bandra.
Doctors have advised Saif to stay on complete bed rest for a week and to avoid visitors to minimize the risk of infection. Due to the large crowds gathering outside the hospital and their residence, heavy security has been deployed to ensure his privacy and safety.
The incident, which occurred in the early hours of January 16, shocked both fans and the public. An intruder broke into Saif’s Bandra home and attacked him with a knife, leaving him with six stab wounds. One of the wounds was dangerously close to his spine, and doctors revealed that the knife missed his spinal cord by just 2 mm. Saif underwent immediate surgery to address spinal fluid leakage and also had plastic surgery to treat injuries on his arm and neck.
The attack was witnessed by Eliyama Philip, the caretaker of Saif and Kareena’s children, Taimur and Jeh. She described hearing strange noises and encountering the intruder, who initially threatened her with a knife and demanded money. When Saif and Kareena rushed to the scene, the intruder attacked Saif before fleeing. The family quickly moved to the upper floor of their home for safety.
The police have arrested the 30-year-old suspect, Shariful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir, who had been living under the alias Vijay Das. Authorities are continuing their investigation and are expected to recreate the crime scene as part of their efforts to understand the full extent of the incident.
