Chief Adviser Prof. Muhammad Yunus has expressed his appreciation to President Donald Trump for exempting life-saving food and nutrition aid for the displaced Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh from the US aid freeze.

In a statement, Yunus thanked Trump for ensuring that crucial support for the refugees would continue despite the recent suspension of US aid. The announcement came after US Embassy officials in Dhaka met with High Representative Dr. Khalilur Rahman and confirmed that the Rohingya aid would be unaffected by the freeze.

Apurba Jahangir, Deputy Press Secretary of the Chief Adviser, also confirmed this update during a media briefing at the Foreign Service Academy. She highlighted that USAID’s ongoing nutrition assistance for the Rohingya would continue as planned.

The executive order by President Trump, which halts aid to all countries for 90 days for review, is not specific to any one country. Foreign Adviser Touhid Hossain clarified this during the briefing, addressing concerns raised by the media.
